Question: When are Cambridge Road and the High Street going to be resurfaced?

Answer: As of May 2025

  • Cambridgeshire County Council Highways acknowledge that the state of Cambridge Road and the High Street have reached a point where resurfacing from Tesco to Fen Road need to be undertaken.
  • The estimated cost of doing a complete resurfacing is in the order of £700,000.
  • Unfortunately, Milton has not been included in their 25/26 budget to do this work. However, Milton has been prioritised for the 26/27 budget.
  • For 25/26, Highways have scheduled patching and repair of the worse sections on the road through the village including parts of Butt Lane. A more detailed list of where this will take place will be issued in due course.
  • Highways noted that wet or cold weather is not the best time to make these types of repairs, and this will be taken into consideration in the future.
  • Work to install a Greenway through the village will impact on what happens to the road surface but Highways and the Greater Cambridge Partnership are in communication to co-ordinate working together.

Question: What is happening with the A10/Humphries Way junction?

Answer: As of May 2025

  • A plan to modify the junction with traffic signals has already been released into the public domain.
  • This work will be funded by Urban and Civic which is linked to the housing development at Waterbeach.
  • Once 300 homes are occupied it will then trigger U&C release funding and allow work to being on the junction.
  • Currently less than 100 homes are occupied and so the projected 300 trigger point is not expected for the next 1-3 years.
  • Parish Councils and Cambridgeshire County Councillors are trying to find ways to get some funding in place so that the work can begin earlier.

Question: Will the anti-social behaviour and noise from the Park and Ride site ever end?

Answer: As of August 2025

  • South Cambs District Council have been collaborating with the Police to find ways of controlling this problem.
  • Currently a Public Space Protection Order is being obtained which will give the Police more powers to warn and disperse those causing a disturbance at the P&R.
  • The use of CCTV and or ANPR will give the Police additional tools to collect data on those repeat offenders. This could result in the issue of Section 59’s which can lead to vehicles being confiscated.
  • The PSBO public consulation has now ended and we await the outcome of that

Question: What is happening with the Waterbeach-Cambridge Greenway?

Answer: As of August 2025

  • The GCP consultation for a Greenway to be built through the village resulted in a small majority not in favour of the scheme.
  • However, the GCP are still committed to building a route through the village.
  • Milton Parish Council and Camcycle began a series of meeting last year to see if a compromise design of a route through the village could be reached.
  • Discussions with various groups throughout the village were undertaken to find a consensus as to what type of design would be acceptable and what would not.
  • MPC and Camcycle have now reached a point where a design has been drawn up and have passed it to GCP for their consideration.
  • If this passes the GCP cost and buildability tests, then the design proposal will be shown to the village for input. This is not expected until late September or early October.
